CS Antivirus is a graphical user interface for a powerful open-source anti-virus engine called ClamAV. The result is a great-looking anti-virus tool that will keep your system safe and protected without taking up all of your resources. It will scan all the sensitive areas of your computer and will check any suspicious threat against a database with more than 720,000 virus signatures.
This excellent protection tool relies on the popular Clam Anti-virus database, against which you can check your files, folders, and memory any time you wish. You decide which files, folders, file extensions, etc., will be checked, and which will be left untouched. Besides this "manual" check-up, the CS Antivirus keeps a background process running at all times, the CSAV Service, which can be stopped whenever needed. The program also allows you to update your version of the Clam database either manually or by using its automatic update scheduler. This will check the virus database periodically without requesting any further action on your side, thus keeping your system's safety permanently up to date. CS Anti-Virus keeps a log of both the processes performed and the threats found.
Finally, it is important to note that this promising free tool is still in beta phase, and as the developers at CreaSoftware admit, it may not be as stable as they would like it to be.
